Ernie St. Germaine Received 50th Anniversary Custom Skis
On Friday, February 9th, Ernie St. Germaine, the only skier to have skied all 49 American Birkebeiners, picked up his custom skis for his 50th race in just two weeks.
Months ago, Erine realized he needed new pair of skis for this year’s race. He stopped by Hayward’s Riverbrook Bike and Ski. Owners Tim Swift & Cindy Kaner took it upon themselves to reach out to Madshus to do something special for Erine’s 50th consecutive race.
The result is a beautiful pair of 50th Anniversary Birkebeiner Skis presented in collaboration between Madshus & Riverbrook Bike & Ski.
“Erine, we appreciate you showing up and doing the Birkie for 50 years. It’s quite an accomplishment. So from us at Madshus, we wanted to recognize that accomplishment and also recognize the 50th Anniversary of the Birkie so we made a custom pair of skis specifically for you. They are the right length and flex for you as well, so you are welcome to ski them, use them however you see fit. Congratulations on this incredible accomplishment. ” – Madshus representative Ben Dubay
Swift & Kaner presented the skis to Erine with huge smiles on their faces. “It’s amazing to say that you’ve done that many,” said Swift. “You showed up every time no matter what,” added Kaner.
“Well nobody taught me how to quit,” replied Erine.
