Snowmaking Update From Our Trail Manager Erik Blow
The temperatures are dropping and that can only mean one thing; snowmaking! While we certainly hope we’ll receive more assistance from Mother Nature this year producing the white stuff, we are ready to get moving as soon as the temperatures reliably drop below freezing to get as best of an early season start as we can. Over this fall, we’ve expanded our electrical system significantly to increase our load capacity and efficiency with more locations to plug in equipment, allowing us to get more coverage on our trails while minimizing the need to use excessive extension cords and hose that could be used elsewhere in the system. Additionally, with two new snowguns added to the fleet will up our production and allow us to cover more ground than ever.
Once we get rolling, our priorities will be to get as much coverage down for the Turkey Birkie event over Thanksgiving and the Gitchi Gami Games in early December, meaning focusing on the core competition loops near the start area. We will be planning to get a trail in from Mount Telemark Village to the competition loops as well for access from the Base Camp building.
We hope the natural snow shows up early and shows up often this year, but we are prepared to assist as much as possible to get great skiing going up north at Mount Telemark Village.
