Birkie Tour
Skiers choose their own distance and pace at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead. Birkie Skate and Classic trails are marked for different distances, complete with open aid stations at Timber Trail, Fire Tower, and Boedecker. The Tour is perfect for skiers who aren’t interested in ski racing but love skiing, skiers who is unsure about entering a Birkie race, or someone who is looking to ski in a fun and safe environment.
Night Race
Race under the stars on the same day as the tour! Race with a headlamp (required) and experience the flying sensation of the Birkie trails at night. Choose from a 10K individual race, or race 20K with a teammate – each team member skis 20K together and your time is counted as the second team member crosses the finish line.

Course Description
Those skiing the Team 20k race will complete 3, 6k laps. 20k team members must ski together, your time is counted as the second team member crosses the finish line. Those registered for the 10k race will complete 2, 6k laps. These race distances are subject to change depending on conditions.
The night races will be hosted on a rolling 6k course, all on man-made snow, with 120m of climbing per lap, including one significant climb. All races will start at the American Birkebeiner Trailhead under the start arch. Skiers will begin on a short section of the Birkie Skate trail and turn left onto the Tormondsen Family Snowmaking Trails. Skiers will be utilizing those core snowmaking and competition trails – over the Tunnel, through the Competition Stadium, and loop out through Telehenge from there. After Telehenge, skiers will cross Birkie Boulevard to ski by Mt. Telemark Village. On the return, skiers will complete the staples we know and love: the Deck loop, Elevator Shaft, World Cup climb, Carousel turn, and will head back to the Competition Stadium on the Birkie Roller. Once down the hill, skiers will finish through the Tunnel and back to the Birkie start to lap and/or finish. Skiers – be aware of your lap or finish decision point as you exit the tunnel! There will be signs to guide the way.
Be sure your headlamp is charged up and ready to go. Have fun, be kind & courteous, enjoy!
